WHAT IS AGERE?
AGERE was recognized as the best company in the public business sector.
AGERE was recognized as the best public company in the local business sector according to the Portuguese municipalities' financial yearbook, presented at the "Local Power" conference organized by the Order of Official Accountants and TSF.
AGERE emerged from the transformation of the Municipal Services of Water and Sanitation into a Municipal Public Company in 1999.
In 2005, the consortium Geswater, S.A. acquired 49% of the company's share capital (€39,000,000) and, in partnership with the Municipal Chamber, took over the management of AGERE's operations, making it a Municipal Company with predominantly public capital.
AGERE serves over 90,000 customers, with a monthly revenue of around €2,800,000 and a workforce that is its greatest asset.
Currently, with over 555 employees, it is the only company in the country that manages and maintains the various areas in which it operates—water treatment, operation and supply, wastewater management, waste collection, urban environment, and CRO management.
This particularity means that services and employees are spread across various buildings. The headquarters, located at Praça Conde de Agrolongo, houses the management and public service departments.
In the Operational Center building in Real, you will find the waste collection and urban environment services, water and wastewater operation, warehouse, meter section, and CRO. The Water Treatment Station (ETA) is located at Central do Cávado (Ponte do Bico). In Frossos is the main Wastewater Treatment Plant (ETAR). AGERE also has a public service desk at the Loja do Cidadão building on Avenida da Liberdade.
The ETA, ETAR, and CRO are open to the public and can be visited according to the current rules. These facilities reflect part of the company's work, bringing the public closer to the company's operations.
