Braga has a water Christmas tree

13, Dec 24 | Updates

The AGERE Sustainability Tree, inaugurated this Friday at Largo do Pópulo, is made of water and features an innovative and 100% sustainable concept.

This Friday, AGERE unveiled the Sustainability Tree, an emblematic symbol of Braga's Christmas festivities, highlighting the importance of water preservation.

Designed as a powerful message to raise awareness about water reuse—a vital and finite resource—the tree operates with a closed circuit that allows continuous water circulation, symbolizing AGERE's commitment to conserving natural resources.

Illuminated with low-energy LED technology and powered by solar panels installed at the company’s headquarters, the Sustainability Tree shines with clean, renewable energy, reducing its carbon footprint while promoting environmental awareness. The absence of water waste and the use of renewable energy reinforce AGERE's dedication to sustainability.

The Chairwoman of AGERE's Board of Directors emphasized that this “unique structure reflects AGERE’s focus on sustainable and innovative solutions that directly impact the well-being of the community and the future of our planet, highlighting the importance of efficient and sustainable water resource management.” The Sustainability Tree thus serves as a call to individual and collective responsibility in protecting this precious resource and promoting renewable energy.

Alexandra Roeger also explained that “this innovative approach will allow the water used during the holiday season to be repurposed for irrigation of green spaces and urban cleaning, symbolizing the company's sustainability policies, as no water will be wasted.”

The tree will be on display throughout the Christmas season, becoming, once again, a gathering point for Braga residents and an opportunity to raise awareness about environmentally friendly practices.

About the Sustainability Tree

AGERE's Sustainability Tree has become a tradition in Braga, having in previous years incorporated community projects such as plastic bottle collection contests among school groups. This year, the initiative focuses on water as a vital resource, aiming to promote sustainability and raise awareness about its conscious use.
