The renovation of the PEAD DN 315mm water supply pipeline, installed along the roadways of the Gualtar Campus at the University of Minho, has been successfully completed. The project, led by the AGERE-EM Operations Directorate, covered a total length of 500 linear meters.
This renovation project involved decommissioning the asbestos cement DN 350mm pipeline installed in 1985 and the PEAD DN 355mm pipeline installed in 2000. Specialized and experienced teams from the Water Operations Directorate ensured the technical quality and safety required for the project’s execution.
The need for intervention arose due to the high number of failures recorded, the fragile state of the water supply pipeline after successive repairs, and the inconvenience caused to customers whenever water supply cuts were necessary. This main pipeline supplies a large area of the municipality, affecting a significant number of customers in the parishes of Gualtar, Este S. Mamede, Este S. Pedro, Sta. Lucrécia Algeriz, Crespos, Pousada, among others, as well as some customers in Póvoa de Lanhoso, in the Moure area.
AGERE-EM developed the renovation project for this pipeline section and the respective work schedule, ensuring, in coordination with the University of Minho, the uninterrupted operation of the Gualtar Campus.
