Residents of Braga continue to benefit from some of the lowest utility bills in the country for water, sanitation, and waste management services. According to data released by DECO at the start of 2024, Braga remains at the top of the list as the district capital with the lowest bill for an average annual consumption of 180 m³, and the second lowest for an average annual consumption of 120 m³.3 , e a segunda mais baixa, para um consumo médio anual de 120 m3.
Following the ERSAR's award of the Exemplary Quality Seal for Drinking Water for the 10th consecutive year, DECO's study confirms that Braga also has the most affordable rates for AGERE's services.
Despite several actions and investments in recent years, these costs have not been passed on to residents, and in 2024, bills will not change, except for the waste management fee, which will be updated according to current government legislation. Additionally, considering the Bank of Portugal's estimate that the annual inflation rate will reach 3%, residents of Braga will experience a real gain for the ninth consecutive year, amounting to 23.8% in accumulated terms over this period.
Rui Sá Morais, President of AGERE’s Board of Directors, stated, “It is a point of pride to keep Braga at the top of the list of district capitals with the most affordable bills in the country, as it clearly reflects AGERE’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality water, sanitation, and waste management services at competitive prices. Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on necessary investments and cost control, ensuring the efficient management that has characterized us over the past decade.”
