AGERE-EM will commence the renovation of the water supply pipe in Celeirós on April 22, 2024. The project involves replacing the existing DN 300mm asbestos cement pipe with a DN 315mm PEAD pipe along Avenida Ponte Traves, covering a total length of 690 meters.
All installed water supply connections will also undergo renovation. The project is divided into two phases, with the first phase expected to last 30 working days, though this timeline may change due to unforeseen constraints and issues during the work.
The purpose of this project is to replace the DN 300mm asbestos cement pipe installed in 1987. The need for this renovation arises from the increasing likelihood of failures, the material's fragility after multiple interventions, and the inconvenience to residents caused by water cuts for repairs. This is a main supply pipe that services a large area, affecting many customers in Celeirós, Aveleda, and Vimieiro.
The project and its work schedule were developed by AGERE, and all necessary notices were sent to relevant entities, including CM Braga, TUB, and local residents. In collaboration with the Celeirós Parish Council, residents will be informed of traffic disruptions during the work, with access to homes being maintained.
The first phase of the project will take place between the intersections of Avenida Ponte Traves with Rua Ponte and Travessa União in Celeirós, and will also include the renovation of a DN 90mm water supply pipe on Travessa S. Lourenço. The second phase will start at the intersection of Travessa União and continue to Rua Sra. Carmo in Celeirós.
The renovation aims to improve the water supply service provided to customers, with AGERE continuing to invest in upgrading the water supply infrastructure.
