AGERE Receives MOVE+ Energy Certificate at the Presentation of the New Fleet

12, Apr 24 | Updates

On Friday, AGERE introduced its new electric urban cleaning vehicles at an event that underscored the company's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.

Dedicated to becoming an increasingly sustainable company through electric mobility, energy efficiency, and fleet decarbonization, AGERE was honored with the MOVE+ certificate. This recognition was presented by Hélder Rodrigues, Coordinator of the Sustainability and Mobility Directorate at ADENE, who attended the event.

After an evaluation of the fleet based on energy efficiency and environmental criteria, the company received a B energy rating. This rating highlighted the value of ecological driving, smart collection supported by advanced technologies, fleet modernization, and the acquisition of electric-powered vehicles.

The urban cleaning service in Braga, ensured by AGERE, now includes a total of 40 electric pieces of equipment. This follows the addition of a new washer and four sweepers, also electric. The goal of acquiring these new vehicles is to strengthen and make the cleaning service more efficient in non-urban areas, including the peripheral parishes around the city of Braga.

AGERE's light passenger vehicles are also being replaced with electric ones, contributing to the overall fleet decarbonization goal, with four vehicles of this type already in operation.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of AGERE mentioned that "the company has invested around 1.3 million euros in electric vehicles in recent years, which, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions, allows for quieter operations suitable for pedestrian areas, ensuring greater efficiency in urban cleaning operations and thus a higher quality of life for those who live in and visit Braga.” He emphasized that “by 2027, an additional 1.2 million euros are planned to be invested in this type of equipment."

Rui Sá Morais also spoke about the Braga Business Mobility Pact, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable mobility in Braga, of which AGERE is a part. He reinforced that “electric mobility is aligned with the sustainability

principles of AGERE and the Municipality of Braga's Action Plan, with the aim of continuing to contribute to better air quality in the municipality. This is why we also aimed to raise awareness of this issue by holding this event symbolically on National Air Day.”
